dean
a city
Jun 29th
a city, an interactive multimedia instillation by Dean and I, emerged out of the Young Artist’s Project hosted by the KZNSA in 2004. a city was also installed in the Durban Art Gallery and at Prog:Me (Rio) subsequent to the exhibition at the KZNSA. We are quite excited about the possibilities of in the intersection between art, technology, space and society.
These are some screen shots from the installation:
These are from the opening performance at the KZNSA where the sound of and band played, featuring Daniel Sheldon and KingB amongst many others.
This is me and Dean standing in front of the installation screen. Thanks Storm.
Circuit Bend – My Own Band
Dec 15th
This is another circuit bend that I have used continuously for the past couple of years. Like the Hello Kitty toy, all the abuse has rendered it too fucked to mess with nowadays, so I use samples of the toy.
To do something like this, you would need some small screwdrivers, some wire and switches. Unfortunately you’ll also need a soldering iron and solder.
My First Circuit Bend – Hello Kitty
Nov 15th
This is the very first circuit bend I ever did, probably before I really knew that there was such a thing as circuit bending. The results of this bend encouraged me to try other things. Basically this is all based off a Hello Kitty keyboard I bought at some cheap toy shop. It probably cost me R10.
An added bonus is that I did it without any soldering at all.
The Ricky Gass Project
